Rugby returns to its roots this spring at the deWilde Rugby & Polo Fields for a tournament years in the making. Chuckanut Bay Rugby is proud to host the Corky Foster Memorial 10s, a day of fun competition and classic rugby culture dedicated to the man who helped breathe life back into the club.
A Legacy in the Scrum
Corky Foster wasn’t just a coach; he was the heartbeat of the Chuckanut men’s team during its critical restart in the early 2000s. Known throughout Whatcom County for his sharp wit and an even sharper passion for the game, Corky embodied the "old school" rugby spirit—tough on the pitch, welcoming in the clubhouse, and always ready with a story.
While Corky long dreamed of Chuckanut hosting its own 10-a-side tournament, he never got to see it come to fruition. On May 30th, the club will be hosting it's 3rd annual 10s tournament in honor of Corky

Tournament Format & Details
The Corky Foster Memorial 10s offers a fast-paced alternative to the traditional 15s game, providing more space for playmakers while retaining the physicality rugby fans crave.
- Date: Saturday, May 30, 2026
- Location: deWilde Rugby & Polo Fields (7090 Dahlberg Rd, Ferndale, WA)
- Divisions: Open to Men’s and Women+ teams.
- The Structure: Teams will battle through a Round Robin group stage to determine seeding, followed by a high-stakes Knockout Stage to crown the inaugural champions.

In true Corky fashion, the day is designed to be a celebration of the community. Beyond the touchlines, spectators and players can expect the classic Chuckanut atmosphere: local camaraderie, a tribute to the "Geoduck" heritage, and a nod to the wit and wisdom Corky brought to the sidelines.
